Program Policies
Course Completion Policies
Participants who successfully complete individual JIFSAN risk analysis training
courses will receive both Continuing Education Units (CEU's) and a
Certificate of Completion with CEU's. In addition, a Core Program
Certificate and two Intermediate Program Certificates are awarded when specific
Course Clusters are completed.
Successful Course Completion — student requirements
Face-to-Face Courses:
Participants must:
- Complete and submit pre-and post course tests to the instructor
- Attend each day of the course, recording attendance on the sign-in sheet
provided by the instructor
- Participate in group and individual activities throughout the course
- Complete a course evaluation
Distance Learning Courses:
Participants must:
- Complete and submit on-line pre-and post course tests
- Complete all on-line self assessments
- View on-line course material
- For each course module, complete any individual assignments and participate
actively in group assignments
- Successfully complete a turn as team leader, facilitating the timely
completion of a team assignment for the course
- Complete a course evaluation

- Quantitative Risk Assessment Methods: Probabilistic Methods
- Quantitative Risk Assessment Methods: Model Building
Courses Required for Epidemiology/Toxicology Track Certificate
- All Core Courses
- Introduction to Economics for Risk Analysis
- Introduction to Food Safety Epidemiology
- Overview of Food Toxicology
CANCELLATION/ SUBSTITUTION POLICY
- NO refunds will be given if attendance is not possible.
- Substitutions are allowed at any time provided OCEE is notified in writing.

advance of any substitutions.
CANCELLATION OF PROGRAMS BY THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND
Registration fees will be fully refunded in the event that a program is cancelled
by the University of Maryland.

Deadline for early registration for the Summer Integrated Program is June 15, 2005, and 3 days prior to course start date for Distance Learning courses.
